Group 1 Readers’ Theater
Group 1 has created a readers’ theater in their classroom, turning an old puppet theater into a place for stories, imagination, and shared learning!
Students in our kindergarten and first-grade classroom took on different roles as narrators, characters, and audience members, bringing stories to life through reading and performance. As they read their parts, students practiced reading with expression, listening to one another, and discovering how the different parts of a story fit together.
At NCCL, reading is at the heart of learning. Through thoughtful instruction, meaningful practice, and shared experiences with stories, children build the skills and confidence to become strong, independent readers. Reading opens the door to new ideas, deeper understanding, and learning across every subject. Just as importantly, we want children to discover the joy, curiosity, and connection that reading brings.
Readers’ theater brings these experiences together, giving students a chance to put their reading into practice, share their voices, and learn alongside their classmates. And as you can see from these photos, it’s pretty fun, too!
